Jump forward in time for a visit to the 12th century crown jewel of the city, the Hassan Tower – a stunning relic of the unfinished mosque and home to the mausoleum of former kings Hassan II and Mohammed V.

As you bid farewell to Rabat, make final stops at the Chellah Necropolis and feast your eyes on a modern day marvel fit for a king: the Royal Palace, home of the royal family since 1912.

From Rabat you will make your way to the quiet and charming coastal town of Asilah for the night, where you will both have the opportunity to witness a stunning sunset over the Atlantic Ocean and stroll through its artistic medina.

Day III: TANGIER - CHEFCHAOUEN

On the third day of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca, you will have some free time  to explore Tangier before leaving for Chefchaouen, a world-famous, beautiful blue-painted city in the Rif Mountains.

Step into the fascinatingly rich past of Tangier as you wander through the charming streets of the medina. This northern coastal town is just opposite Spain, and due to its proximity to Europe and the rest of northern Africa, it has been influenced by many civilizations and cultures from a time that dates as far back as the 10th century BCE.

From the lighthouse at Cape Spartel you can enjoy a fabulous view of both the Spanish coastline and where the Atlantic Ocean becomes one with the Straight of Gibraltar. And just a stone’s throw away is the intriguing Caves of Hercules, a place of legend. As the story goes, this was the site where Hercules rested after dividing the continents of Europe and Africa.

Once departing from Tangier, you have another opportunity for some time in nature at the Akchour Waterfalls, one of the hidden gems near to Chefchaouen.

Once in Chefchaouen, check into your riad before heading out with a local guide to walk through the alluring blue alleyways and scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Should time permit, hike up to the Spanish mosque to catch the sun setting over the city before dinner and settling in for the night.

Day IV: CHEFCHAOUEN - VOLUBILIS - MEKNES - FES

On the fourth day of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca, enjoy a free morning around town. Soak up the vibrant atmosphere as you wander through the mesmerizingly charming and colorful streets, perfect for photo lovers.

Once ready to depart from the “Blue City”, you’ll make way to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. On the way, take in the stunning views across the Rif mountain range before passing through the rich vegetable fields of Morocco’s agriculture capital between Ouezzane and Meknes.

Once you reach Volubilis, you’ll visit the well-preserved archaeological site and former Berber-Roman city and capital of Mauretania – the Latin name for ancient Morocco – a region which included modern day Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and Mauretania. Marvel at the ruins of temples, mansions, and impressive mosaics from the 1st century AD until the 3rd century AD, when the Roman rule of Mauretania collapsed.

Fun fact – Moulay Idriss, the founder of Morocco as you know it today, is also buried here in a nearby town named after the great conquerer.

Later you’ll continue to Meknes, another imperial city steeped in a rich history. There you will visit the famous Bab Mansour Gate, the el-Hedim Square (which gets its name from the rubble left behind when the medieval kasbah was destroyed), and the impressive Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, Morocco’s longest serving ruler of 55 years.

A must see before leaving Meknes is a stop at the Sahrij Swani – Basin of the Norias – a masterpiece complex with a large artificial lake which serviced the Imperial Kasbah at the time.

Once finished, you’ll head off to Fes, where you’ll spend the night.

DAY VI:FES

On the fifth day of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, get ready for a full day of exploration of Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Get “lost” with your local guide as you wander through the narrow winding streets of the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali (Old Medina) where you’ll pay a visit to centuries-old tanneries, intricately decorated mosques, plus one of the oldest universities in the world and the first ever founded by a woman, the University of Al-Quaraouiyine. While there, don’t forget to immerse yourself in the medina’s bustling atmosphere as you wind your way through the old city’s countless lively markets.

Not to mention, discover some of the most fascinating historical hot spots outside of the medina to experience Fes from a different perspective. Stops include the Royal Palace Gates, the Jewish Quarter, and the South Tower, which offers an incredible panoramic view of the old city.

As if that weren’t enough, Fes is also famous the world over for its one-of-a-kind ceramics. To learn more, you’ll have the opportunity to get to meet local artisans and see first-hand how they practice their craft.

DAY V:FES - IFRANE - CEDAR FOREST - MIDELT - ZIZ VALLEY - SAHARA DESERT - MERZOUGA

On day six of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, known for its Alpine weather. Along the way, you’ll make a short stop in Ifrane, lovingly referred to as “Little Switzerland.” Go for a walk through the pleasant green streets, or enjoy some coffee and pastries at one of the French-style coffee shops.

From there, you’ll head off to Michlifen, home to Morocco’s famous ski resorts, and you’ll explore the beautiful cedar forest in Azrou, home to the Barbary apes. You can even feed the monkeys if you fancy!

After your time with your new forest friends, your journey will continue through the small mountain towns of Timahdite and Zaida – a major watering hole connecting local bus travelers coming from every corner across the country. A destination well-known amongst Moroccans for some of the best meat restaurants on offer, as well as a great stop for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For those of you who love apples, the next stop is for you. Midelt is a famous agricultural hinterland producing all kinds of delicious fruits and vegetables, but is most commonly referred to as the national apple capital as 90% of the countries apples are produced here.

Savor a tasty lunch in er-Rich before a scenic drive through the Ziz Valley and oasis, dotted with the seemingly endless palm groves of Ouled Chaker and small Berber villages. This location is one of the principle resource areas for the production of dates – an essential element of the Moroccan way of life – and are of the very best quality.

In the evening you’ll arrive to Merzouga where you’ll hop on a camel and trek your way into the mesmerizing Sahara Desert for a spectacular sunset, followed by a night spent in a desert camp. You’ll be greeted by some delicious tea and local snacks as you settle into your desert haven before being swept away by the beauty of the night sky and berber music around the campfire, making for a truly memorable lifetime experience. Dinner is included.

Day VII:MERZOUGA REGION - NOMADS - ERG CHEBBI

On day seven of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, we encourage you to wake up early in order to witness the stunning sunrise over the Sahara Desert. It’s worth it, we promise!

After tasty desert breakfast at the camp, you’ll explore the surrounding area and be welcomed into the home of a nomadic family to learn more about their traditional way of life.

From there you’ll take a trip to M’fis, an abandoned mining town peacefully tucked away in the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. While it may be a ghost town, it still holds its allure as a formerly vibrant place where the mineral kohl was extracted to create ancient eyeliner.

On your way to Khamlia where you will pay a visit to the Tuareg people – an indigenous ethnic group also known as the “Blue Men of the Sahara Desert” – venture up to some of the highest viewpoints where you can properly take in the vast beauty of the region. Once in Khamlia, you will be treated to some exceptional traditional music and dance by this special group of people found in Morocco only here.

After some fine entertainment, take delight in trying a local dish found only in Morocco – Berber Pizza. A classic recipe composed of ground beef, onions and exotic spices which harmoniously come together for a culinary experience like no other.

Later venture into the stunning Erg Chebbi Dunes and enjoy the tranquility of the desert. In the afternoon you’ll head back to the hotel near the palm grove, where you can relax and take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. Dinner is included.

Day VIII:MERZOUGA - RISSANI - ERFOUD - TODRA GORGES - DADES VALLEY

On day eight of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, you’ll wake up early and enjoy a final desert breakfast before setting off towards Dades, where you will spend the night.

Your first stop will take you to the city of Rissani, a traditional market town known for its vibrant souks and historical monuments, as well as an historic trading post for caravans who passed through from the south. It is also interesting to note that the current royal family has its origins from this city, as well as the widely considered founder of the Alaouite Dynasty of Morocco of the 1600s, Moulay Ali Cherif.

Following some tea and spice shopping, set off for Erfoud, the capital of dates and fossils. To celebrate the harvest every October, the city puts on a now internationally famous festival of dates, given the importance of the locally grown fruit.  You will also have the chance to enjoy a fossil workshop to learn about the region’s rich past as a pre-historic ocean from 380 million years ago and to see on display all kinds of ancient marine animals, plants and fish which are often turned into marble products for various household decorative elements.

The day continues with a drive through various small towns and villages along the way to tour the impressive Todra Gorges, known for its towering cliffs and breathtaking scenery, plus the sensational Dades Valley, characterized by its stunning rock formations and picturesque landscapes. You will also have the change to stop by the uniquely named “Monkey Fingers” rock formation, and take a drive up one of the most recognizable roads in Morocco, the Dades Gorge Winding Road.

Once in Dades, catch up on some rest and spend the night in a hotel overlooking the valley. Dinner is included.

Day IX : DADES VALLEY - KASBAH AIT BENHADDOU - MARRAKECH

On the ninth day of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, you will leave the Dades Gorges and head towards Marrakech.

Your first stop will be in the Valley of Roses, named after its thousands of rose bushes. The region is home to the production of roses for various uses, ranging anywhere from beauty products to cooking products. While the industry exists year-round, a Rose Festival is held once a year in mid-May to celebrate the end of the rose season.

You will pass by Skoura, known for its Kasbahs and palm groves, as well as Ouarzazate, the little Hollywood of Africa, where you can visit the famous Atlas Studios.

Speaking of world-famous, you will then continue to the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for several major Hollywood movies, including Academy Award winners The Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, and blockbuster hits, such as The Mummy.

Your journey will then continue through the High Atlas Mountains where you can enjoy stunning views of its diverse scenery and landscapes.

Once you reach the “Red City”, settle into your riad which will serve as your base for the next several days. If you fancy, get a taste of the Marrakech night scene with a recommended first port of call at the renowned Jamaa El fna square, the beating heart of the city. Also, while there, be sure to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the city’s famous night markets.

Day X: MARRAKECH

On the tenth day of your 14-day Morocco discovery tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, you will spend the day exploring the vibrant city of Marrakech. Your local tour guide will come pick you up at your hotel or riad to spend the morning guiding you through the labyrinthine streets of the UNESCO-listed medina.

Your tour will begin in the Jewish Quarter, the second oldest of its kind in Morocco. From there you will be taken to the Bahia Palace, a must-visit location in the historic city center. Artisans from every corner of the country were contracted to build this stunning late-19th century jewel, most known for its captivating decoration – from marble floors, to intricate mosaics and Arabic scripture, to cedar-wood ceilings.

After some royal treatment, continue to wander through the countless alleyways of the medina to soak up the sights and sounds of the many wonderful markets, restaurants and cafés. Stroll your way over to the Ben Youssef Medersa, a historic Islamic school which was built in the 14tth century.

But no trip to the old city is complete without a visit to the world-famous main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa. To this day it remains a hugely important congregational site for locals and tourists alike. Try your hand at fitting in with the locals as you get drawn in by Moroccan / Berber storytellers, sipping on some deliciously fresh-pressed juice, or munching on some street food unique to Marrakech.

From there you’ll make your way to one of the most iconic sites of the city – the Koutoubia. The 12th century mosque is the largest of the city, with it’s towering minaret a beloved emblem of Marrakech.

With bellies rumbling, refuel with a delicious lunch before being picked up by your driver to spend some time in the serenity of the Majorelle Gardens. In order to beat the lines, getting tickets ahead of time online is highly recommended. The house and surrounding gardens were created by the French artist Jacques Majorelle before fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent and his business manager Pierre Bergé bought the property and restored it to its current condition enjoyed by millions today.

In the evening, immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of the city’s famous night markets.

Day XI:MARRAKECH COOKING CLASS - AGAFAY DESERT
