On the first day of our 4-day Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel or riad in Casablanca. The famed city is the largest in Morocco, thanks to its thriving economy and financial position.
Before you embark on your journey to Fes, enjoy a bit of sightseeing in Casablanca. The must-see monument is the Hassan II Mosque, which boasts an impressive reputation as the largest mosque in Africa and the 14th biggest in the world. However, its unique minaret is the second tallest on the planet.
In addition to this incredible mosque, you will explore Mohammed V Square before taking an enjoyable walk by the ocean.
Once it’s time to go, you will continue your trip to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. Rabat has a rich history and a number of important monuments, such as the fascinating kasbah of Ouadaias and the well-known Hassan Tower, believed to be an unfinished minaret of a mosque from the end of the 12th century.
After your visit to Rabat, you will make your way to Fes via Meknes, two of Morocco’s imperial cities with beautiful old gates and massive walls. You will spend the night at a lovely riad in Fes.
On the second day of our 4-day Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, rise and shine for a tasty breakfast before departing to the Sahara Desert. On the way, you will pass through the little city of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Little Switzerland of Africa” due to its Swiss mountain architecture set amongst a backdrop of snow every winter.
From there continue to Midelt for lunch, with a few stops along the way to for an opportunity to rest and capture the natural beauty of the cedar forests in the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to adorable and personable wild monkeys.
Upon reaching Midelt, you will stop for lunch at one of the best restaurants in the area. With food in your bellies, your drive will continue through Tizi n Talghomt Pass. Enjoy countless panoramic views on offer all the way down to Erfoud, the gateway to the enchanting Sahara Desert.
Erfoud is known for its fossils and traditional Berber-nomad outfits, which may be of interest to try on or even to purchase. You will arrive to the Sahara Desert by evening, just in time for your camel ride across the sand dunes. Your journey on camelback will take you all the way up one of the high dunes of Erg Chebbi, from which you can get a fantastic view of the most beautiful Saharan sunset.
Once the sun disappears out of sight, it will be time to call it a night at a well-equipped, luxury desert camp.
On the third day of our 4-day Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, get up early to catch the spectacular sunrise amidst a stunning view of the desert and its dunes. When ready, head back to the desert luxury camp for a delicious desert breakfast and a cozy shower before setting off to the Toudgha Gorges, located just a couple of miles away from Tinghir. Along the way, you will get the chance to wander through Rissani’s traditional souk.
When we get to the Toudgha Gorge, look up in awe at the staggering mountains and go for a stroll through the water springs – a hotspot for locals and visitors alike. After that, your journey continues to Boumalne Dades where you will spend the night.
On the fourth, and sadly final day of our 4-day Morocco tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, you will venture off to one of the most famous and popular cities in the world, Marrakech. An unmissable place to visit and and get lost in as you explore the colorful and vivacious souks that give life to the city.
There are plenty of interesting places to see along the way, namely Ouarzazate and the neighboring kasbah of Ait Benhaddou with a unique vibe and magical architecture. Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known the world over as a favorite destination for Hollywood where various Academy Award winning local and international films have been shot.
Another pitstop on the way to Marrakech is the Tichka Pass, a lovely spot to soak up the marvellous views of the high Atlas Mountains. You will reach Marrakech by nightfall, and will be dropped off at your riad or airport depending on where your journey takes you next!
I am so glad that we finally made it to Morocco! It was an amazing and fun experience for us, as we saw some beautiful places, especially the Sahara Desert. It was so captivating and so much fun, especially with our tour guide who made our trip to Morocco the best. So looking forward to another visit next spring, hopefully…:D
