On the first day of your 9-day in Morocco tour from Casablanca, you will be greeted at the airport in Casablanca upon your arrival and taken to your hotel to rest. Casablanca is the biggest city in Morocco, and serves as the engine of the country’s main industries and economy.
Should you feel up to it, venture out to see some of the main sights, such as the Hassan II Mosque, Mohammed V Square, or the famous corniche to walk along the Atlantic coast.
On the second day of your 9-day in Morocco tour from Casablanca, depart for Rabat after a nice breakfast to spend some time in the capital of Morocco and a captivating city that combines modernity with tradition. Once there, you will visit several key places, such as the Kasbah of the Udayas – an historic fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean – the Chellah monuments and the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an incomplete mosque from the 12th century.
From there your journey will continue to Chefchaouen, known the world over for its bright and colorful blue-washed buildings. Allow yourself to get lost as you wander through the narrow streets of its old medina and enjoy its special ambiance.
Be sure to check out the evening vibe as your stay for the night will be in this beautiful northern city.
On day three, you will have a bit of time in the morning for some last minute strolling through Chefchaouen’s charming alleyways before leaving for the ancient Roman city of Volubilis. Volubilis is the only city of its kind in Morocco, located in the outskirts of the Fes-Meknes region. Here you will have the chance to explore the well-preserved ruins, including the Basilica, the Capitoline Temple, and the Triumphal Arch.
From there you will make your way to Meknes, known as the “Versailles of Morocco”. Meknes is one of Morocco’s four imperial cities, known for its long and interesting history derived from the Ismaeli dynasty that ruled Morocco many centuries ago. Visit the beautiful Bab Mansour Gate at the heart of Meknes, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the Royal Stables, and other various important monuments.
Your day will end in Fes, where you will be served a traditional Moroccan dinner and spend the night in a riad.
On the fourth day of your 9-day in Morocco tour from Casablanca, get ready for a full day of exploration of Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco.
Fes is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco with a unique vibe and rich history. Get lost in the labyrinthine city center with your local guide as you wander through the narrow winding streets of the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali (Old Medina). There you will visit centuries-old tanneries, intricately decorated mosques, plus one of the oldest universities in the world and the first ever founded by a woman – the University of Al-Quaraouiyine. While there, don’t forget to immerse yourself in the medina’s bustling atmosphere as you wind your way through the old city’s countless lively markets.
Once you leave the old center, discover some of the most fascinating historical hot spots outside of the medina to experience Fes from a different perspective. Stops include the Royal Palace Gates, the Jewish Quarter “Mellah”, and the South Tower, which offers an incredible panoramic view of the old city.
Beyond its extraordinary beauty and allure, Fes is also world famous for its one-of-a-kind ceramics. To learn more, you will have the opportunity to meet local artisans and see first-hand how they practice their craft.
On the day five of your 9-day in Morocco tour from Casablanca, travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains en route to the Sahara Desert. On the way there, you are going to stop by Ifrane, a picturesque town known as the “Little Switzerland” of Africa, given its alpine architecture and snowy weather in the winter.
Next, you will stop by the Cedar Forest in Azrou, home to the Barbary Macaques wild monkeys. You can even feed the monkeys if you fancy!
After your time with your new forest friends, carry on to Midelt, a town located in the Middle Atlas Mountains which is known for its apple production. After that, your drive will continue through the Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves, Berber towns and scenic landscapes well-worth capturing.
Once you arrive to Merzouga, you will see a whole different vibe and scenery unique to Morocco’s Saharan Desert. Experience a camel ride through the golden sand dunes, watch a most memorable sunset, and enjoy traditional Berber music all while spending some time under the night sky around a campfire at your luxury desert camp.
On the sixth day of your 9-day in Morocco tour from Casablanca, get up early to witness a magical sunrise over the golden sand dunes before savoring a delicious desert breakfast. Once fuelled up, you will depart for Rissani, a historic desert town known for its traditional markets and ksars, as well as the ruins of Sijilmassa, an ancient trading hub.
Following some tea and spice shopping, your journey will continue to Erfoud where you can explore its fossil workshops and marble factories. From there you will make your way to the stunning Todra Gorges, found tucked away amongst staggering mountains which offer some incredible panoramic views. Its distinctive look and feel has seen many tourists from all over the world fall in love with its magical beauty.
Take a walk through the valley to fully capture the richness of this unique place before heading off to your riad in Boumalne Dades for the night.
