9 days Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech

On the first day of our 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, our tour guide will pick you up and take you to your hotel/ accommodation to rest. Today, you will have the chance to see some places in Tangier such as The Caves of Hercules, and Cape Spartel. 

Tangier is a coastal located in the northern part of Morocco and is also one of the largest cities in Morocco. It has a European-like vibe and is at the same time a purely Moroccan city with lots of places to explore and things to do in its old Medina.

On the second day of our 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, after breakfast, we will leave for Chefchaouen. The latter is a picturesque blue and white painted city situated in the heart of the Rif Mountains. It has a unique architecture and so many beautiful views to see.

You will have the afternoon to explore the old medina, enjoy the views, and learn about the local culture of the people living in Chefchaouen. Late in the afternoon, you can hike to the Spanish mosque for some great views and a spectacular sunset.

On the third day of your 9-day Morocco tour from Casablanca, you’ll depart from Chefchaouen and make your way to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. There you’ll visit the well-preserved archaeological site and marvel at the ruins of temples, mansions, and impressive mosaics from the 1st century AD.

Later you will continue to Meknes, another imperial city steeped in a rich history. There you will visit the famous Bab Mansour Gate and explore the lively medina. Once finished, you’ll head off to Fes, where you’ll spend the night.

On the 4th day of your 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, get ready for a full day of exploration of Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Get “lost” with your local guide as you wander through the narrow winding streets of the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali (Old Medina) where you’ll pay a visit to centuries-old tanneries, intricately decorated mosques, plus one of the oldest universities in the world and the first ever founded by a woman, the University of Al-Quaraouiyine. While there, don’t forget to immerse yourself in the medina’s bustling atmosphere as you wind your way through the old city’s countless lively markets.

Not to mention, discover some of the most fascinating historical hot spots outside of the medina to experience Fes from a different perspective. Stops include the Royal Palace Gates, the Jewish Quarter, and the South Tower, which offers an incredible panoramic view of the old city.

As if that weren’t enough, Fes is also famous the world over for its one-of-a-kind ceramics. To learn more, you’ll have the opportunity to get to meet local artisans and see first-hand how they practice their craft.

On day five of your 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass through Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland,” and explore the beautiful cedar forest in Azrou, home to the Barbary apes. You can even feed the monkeys if you fancy!

After your time with your new forest friends, you’ll drive through the scenic Ziz Valley, dotted with seemingly endless palm groves and small Berber villages. In the evening you’ll arrive at Merzouga, where you’ll hop on a camel and trek into the mesmerizing Sahara Desert to spend the night in a camp.

On day six of your 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, we encourage you to wake up early in order to witness the stunning sunrise over the Sahara Desert. It’s worth it, we promise!

After breakfast at the camp, you’ll explore the surrounding area and visit a nomadic family to learn more about their traditional way of life.

Later venture into the stunning Erg Chebbi Dunes and enjoy the tranquility of the desert. In the afternoon you’ll head back to the hotel near the palm grove, where you can relax and take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool.

On day seven of our 9 days in Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, you’ll be taken to Rissani, a traditional market town known for its vibrant souks and historical monuments. Visit the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum and explore the local market.

Following some tea and spice shopping, the day continues with a tour of the impressive Todra Gorges, known for its towering cliffs and breathtaking scenery, plus the sensational Dades Valley, characterized by its stunning rock formations and picturesque landscapes. Spend the night in a hotel overlooking the valley.

On day eight of our 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier to Marrakech, it’s another early morning as you hit the road to drive along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified village that has featured in many award-winning films and series, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones.

The journey continues through the High Atlas Mountains with its scenic landscapes and panoramic views. Marrakesh will be your port of call in the evening, where you’ll enjoy a wander through the old streets of the medina before finishing the night at your riad. 

On this very last day of our 9-day Morocco tour from Tangier all the way to Marrakech, we will explore the sights and sounds of Marrakesh, including the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the vibrant Jamaa el-Fna square.

We will also have some free time to explore the city’s souks and boutiques. After that, you will be transferred to the airport in Marrakech for your departure.
